Our Valentines

We made our own Valentines this year and had a blast doing it!  (Thanks Pinterest!)  First, we had to peel the paper off of and break into pieces many, many, many crayons!

 

Then we took the broken crayon pieces and randomly placed them in our star muffin tin.

   

And into the oven…220 degrees for about 20 minutes.  I kept a close eye on the crayons since I wanted to pull them out of the oven before the colors melted into pure liquid and became a solid brown color.

   

It took a little bit of trial and error but at the end of the day we had  14 beautiful star crayons!

Jesse wanted his put on “star” valentines. 

The boys’ valentine’s said, “You’re a Superstar!” and the girls’ said, “Jesus’ love is out of this world!”

 

Trey wanted his to be in the shape of hearts, and they all said, “Jesus’ love is out of this world!”  Our valentine’s were super easy to make and  a huge hit in both the kindergarten and 4th grade. 

Okra Painting

Shortly after I pinned “Okra Painting” on Pinterest, Jesse’s kindergarten teacher and I had a conversation about painting snowflakes.  She had attempted  letting the kids use bell peppers to paint snowflakes and it hadn’t worked like she wanted it to.  So, I pulled up my pin on the computer and talked her into trying okra.  Luckily, my 4th graders were gone to music when the kindergarteners tackled their okra painting so I got to be there to help. 

                    

After Jesse finished his painting, he and his friends had fun with the camera!

     

Marshmallow Wars

The week before Christmas I was pinteresting when I came across the coolest thing ever!  I knew immediately that we needed to make one for all the kids , little and big!  So I downloaded all the info and emailed it to the hubby with instructions to do this:-)  He was a bit reluctant at first, but once he made and started playing around with them he confirmed my original statement that this is the coolest thing ever!

Here is what we made:

We wound up making 17 marshmallow shooters and they were a big hit with everyone.

  

Marshmallow Shooters were the last gifts handed out Christmas Eve.  Phil handed everyone a bag to open at the same time. 

  

Once the  bags were opened, the kids couldn’t wait to start shootin’ marshmallows!  The hubs took on the task of assembling and demonstrating the shooters.  Then it was outside for MARSHMELLOW WAR!!!

                    

I honestly don’t know who had more fun…the little kids or my big kid!  We repeated the marshmallow war Christmas Day night at Mama & Mitchel’s but I was busy loving on Rigdon so I didn’t get any photos.  I am so happy that our marshmellow shooters turned out so well.  And if  you’d like to make your own, you can get directions right here.
