Daddy Time

Since the beginning of the school year, it seems that our lives are tremendously busy. I honestly feel like we are never at home, which makes it tremendously hard to keep up with the "every day stuff of life". Phil has been working a lot of hours, and is therefore missing out on a lot of Daddy time at night. Which, by the way, makes it even more tremendously hard to keep up with the "every day stuff of life". He gets up every morning and cooks breakfast, and helps get the boys ready for school. Usually by the time he gets home at night though, the boys are in bed and I'm way to exhausted to carry on a conversation. He does try to get home at least a couple of nights a week in time to bath the boys and help get them in the bed. However, the past couple of weekends, he has been spending some very nice Daddy time with the boys. The boys love it, and so do I since I get some time alone, although my days at home have not been as productive as I would like for them to be.

Two weekends ago both boys got to spend some one-on-one time with Daddy. Saturday morning Daddy and Trey got up and went dove hunting. Saturday afternoon, Jesse and Daddy rode the tractor. ALL AFTERNOON! Sunday afternoon, Daddy took both boys dove hunting. They only got 3 birds, but the memories they made are far more precious. And. Daddy let Jesse shoot his 20 gauge. With a lot of help of course. Daddy held it up to Jesse's little shoulder and helped him pull the trigger. Jesse said it hurt, but just a little. I can't believe how big both my little men are getting!

This past weekend was our big wedding weekend! We spent Friday night at the rehearsal, and Saturday night at the wedding. Saturday afternoon though, was all about getting ready for the boys big fishing trip on Sunday! While Mama was running around getting ready for the wedding, the boys were at the warehouse working on Daddy's truck, at the house working on the boat, and at the grocery store getting the must have snacks for their fishing trip. They left well before the sun was up on Sunday morning, and didn't return until way past bed time! They all had a BLAST, and caught a ton of fish. Apparently, Jesse is quite the little fisherman, and Trey is all about netting the fish! And since hubby will use ANY excuse to hit the coast, I foresee many more trips in the future. I just hope that I can maybe be a little more productive myself next time.

A Wedding Story in Pictures

Lindsey and Chris' wedding was absolutely beautiful! It was a perfect night, filled with good company and good food! Congratulations, once again, to the happy couple!

Lindsey and Chris chose the Rose Cottage in Screven, GA for their wedding. The rehearsal dinner was my first time there, and it is absolutely beautiful! It was a wonderful night with the very happy couple, good family, and good food!

Thankful Thursday: Grandparents

Grandparent's Day was September 13, 2009, although we are thankful for the wonderful GRANDparents that our children have every day! Our church waited a week and honored these special people this past Sunday, September 20th. The children were fabulous, as always! This is the song that they sang especially for the grandparents. Unfortunately, I missed the first verse where the words were slightly changed to fit the occasion. But I hope you enjoy it anyway!

Tasty Tuesday: Baked Drumsticks

A long time ago, I said that I was going to start sharing some of my family's favorite recipes. Well, I shared one, and none since...so finally here is recipe number 2! I must forewarn you that I rarely follow recipes, and that I almost never measure anything. So I will give you estimates of what I use, but it will almost never be an exact amount. I also tend to make dishes up, using whatever I have on hand, and therefore have a hard time duplicating a dish that I've made.

This particular dish came about after I visited the gym a little over a week ago and watched the cooking channel while walking the elliptical and treadmill. It was muted, of course, but this lady was baking some drumsticks and they looked sooooo good, that I left the gym and went next door to the grocery store and bought some drumsticks! My Mama came over that night as I was taking them out of the oven and said that they smelled so good. And they must have because a week later she said that she'd been thinking about them ever since and wanted the recipe so that she could make some. Trey likes it a lot. And so does Phil. In fact, Friday night, when I cooked them for the second time, he raved about them again and told me that I needed to give his Mama the recipe...very high praise indeed. So hopefully, you'll like them as much as my family does. And best of all, they are soooooo very easy.


Baked Drumsticks
In a bowl, mix one egg and some milk (about a cup or so, enough to dip all your drumsticks in)

In another bowl, mix one packet of Hidden Valley dry ranch dressing with some Italian bread crumbs (about 2 cups worth)

Preheat the oven to 350 degrees, and spray a baking sheet with Pam.

Dip each drumstick in the egg/milk mixture, and then roll it in the bread crumbs mixture.

Place each drumstick on the baking sheet with the fat part in the middle of the pan. I usually make two rows.

Bake for about 45 minutes (or until well done), turning the drumsticks over about half way through.

Serve with your favorite side dishes.

Spirit Week 2009

Last week was Spirit/Homecoming week at our school! The boys (especially Trey) really get into the dress up days, and since I'm now a staff member I did too!

My Sick Baby Boy

Yesterday morning, Jesse woke up at 4:30 am throwing up and running a fever. Once he was cleaned up, he told me, "I'm tired." So he cuddled up with Daddy and went right back to sleep. He was still sleeping when Trey and I left for school. It breaks my heart to leave him when he's sick, but thankfully he was much better when I picked him up and I know he was in good hands while I was gone!

Date Night

Okay, so it wasn't really a date but was a "Lawn and Linen" shower for my step-sister who is tying the knot in a couple of weeks. But hubby and I did get away from the house, without the kiddies, for a couple of hours and we enjoyed a wonderful meal that neither of us had to cook or clean up after, soooooo....it counts!
