NYC Awards Ceremony, Part 3

After the singing, the awards started.  It was a LONG night waiting on our categories.  So the kids found inventive ways to amuse themselves.

   

But finally it was time for the arts categories!!!

So, so, so, so PROUD of our big boy!!!

   

We’re also so very proud of our other Pine Level competitors!  They all did a great job!

 

Wonderful times and fabulous memories were made in Memphis!  Our first NYC was a great success!

NYC Awards Ceremony, Part 2

Here is the second song that the children's choir sang. Trey is in the front this time because he had a short solo!!! We are so proud of him!!! He did a great job and if he was nervous you couldn't tell it! I don't know exactly how many people were in the audience but it was well over 1,000! You couldn't have drug me on stage in front of that many people when I was Trey's age (or now either for that matter!) He definitely didn't get his stage presence from his Mama!  I am so proud of both my boys for getting up on that stage and enthusiastically sharing their love for God!!!  Watching Him work in them is one of my greatest joys and nothing melts my heart faster than hearing one of my boys spontaneously start singing their favorite songs that they have learned at church!

NYC Awards Ceremony, Part 1

Our last night in Memphis we attended the National Youth Competition Awards Ceremony.  The night kicked off with a children's choir comprised of children who were attending the convention from all over the country.  They only practiced 3 or 4 times and they did AWESOME!!!  Trey and Jesse particpated with the choir and we are so, so proud of them!  Jesse is in the front row, behind the microphone, in the blue and brown striped shirt and white shorts.  Trey is towards the back behind Jesse in the red long sleeved shirt and the black and red striped shirt.

Mud Island ~ The Riverwalk

When we decided to visit Mud Island our main goal was to ride the monorail and visit the Riverwalk.  I had no idea about the fabulousness that awaited us at the museum.  Nor did I know how much fun the Riverwalk would be.  If we ever make it back or if you make it there, definitely dress in swimsuits and plan to spend several hours playing in the “Mississippi”

 

“The Riverwalk is an exact scale model of the Lower Mississippi River flowing from its confluence with the Ohio River at Cairo, Illinois 954 miles south to the Gulf of Mexico” with 20 cities mapped along the way! Thirty inches of the Riverwalk is equal to 1 mile and the entire River Walk takes up FIVE blocks (or 2,000 feet)!  It is quite amazing!
