Rock Eagle & BabyLand General Hospital

On Thursday, June 3rd we headed out early with our church family for a camping trip in the North Georgia mountains.  It was a long ride, so we broke up the trip with two big pit stops—Rock  Eagle where we enjoyed a picnic lunch and BabyLand General Hospital in Cleveland, GA.

Visiting Rock Eagle brought back so many memories from my summer camp experience there.  I am so thankful that I was able to share it with my boys.

BabyLand General Hospital was cool, although I think it’s coolness was lost on my BOYS!  However, they both got new toys so they were happy.  I can’t remember what Jesse got, but Trey got a Magic 8 Ball.  His Daddy told him it was the perfect toy for him, that it would answer every question that he asked.  He spent the rest of the day asking it questions!

Blueberry Festival Gospel Sing

On June 1st our children's choirs were asked to participate in the annual Blueberry Festival Gospel Sing. Children from two other local churches joined our children to sing two songs. While they had musical accompaniment, the singing is all them and they did an amazing job!!! The love these children show to our Lord is truly awesome!

God is so good to give us these precious gifts! We give Him all the glory!

Wide, Wide as the Ocean

On our May 24th trip to the beach Jesse kept singing one of his graduation songs, Wide, Wide as the Ocean. He was so cute that I had to video him. Unfortunately, there is quite a bit of wind interference, so turn up the volume and enjoy!

A Day at the Beach

On May 24th we took our first trip of the summer to St. Simons Island.  This was a day trip to play with our cousins Hudson and Bowen (& Michael and Cheri too) on the beach.  It was sooooo windy at the beach that day, but it didn’t bother the boys at all!  On this day we visited the beach by the Coast Guard Station and walked down to one of the tide pools!  The boys had the best time playing in that tide pool.  And since it was sooooo windy we had the beach pretty much to ourselves.

Home Sweet Home

We had a fantastic time on our vacation and made some wonderful memories but we were very ready to head home on Friday.  We made it home late Friday afternoon and the boys couldn’t wait to hit the pool!  Yes, my boys ARE part fish.  They got these cool inflatables while we were gone and they couldn’t wait to try them out.  Thankfully, Papa was willing and able to blow them up using the air pump.  I don’t think I would've made it huffing it:-)  And the boys had the best time riding them, wrestling them, and fighting them.  And Mr. Killer Whale and Mr. Alligator are tough!  They took a beating and kept on entertaining!

 

 

 

 

 

Exploring Jekyll Island

The boys and I had the best time exploring Jekyll Island.  We saw sea turtle tracks on the beach, deer, a raccoon that wanted to inspect our bag, lots of crabs, several dolphins, a beautiful view of the SSI lighthouse, and boats and more boats.  Although we never actually got in the water today, we had the best adventures just exploring.

Beach Vacation Day 5: Sea Turtle Center

Today was our last full day of vacation and we packed a lot in…back to school shopping, lunch at Chick-Fil-A, the Georgia Sea Turtle Center, and exploring around Jekyll Island.

Trey and I visited the Sea Turtle Center this past spring on a school field trip. We enjoyed it so much that we knew we had to bring Jesse back this summer.  I must say that it was even better today!  We got to roam around at our own pace and see so much.  We saw them working on Carter, a green sea turtle and got to see them feeding Amy, another green sea turtle.  Amy’s legs were paralyzed when they found her but thanks to the doctors and staff at the hospital she is improving.  Feedings are part of her physical therapy.  They put her food into this indestructible ball and she must bat it around to get the food to fall out.  Then she has to dive to the bottom of the tank to eat it.  She has a difficult time diving because her partial paralysis makes her swim differently than other sea turtles.  It was such an interesting experience and I learned so much (& I hope the boys did too).

Beach Vacation Day 4: To the Pool Again!

Day 4 of our vacation and I am exhausted!!!  This taking the kids on vacation all by yourself with no hubs or anyone else for that matter is not for wimps!  Thank goodness that we’ve had company join us the last two days.  We have been blessed with wonderful family and friends that have traveled down to SSI to join us for fun at the pool and I don’t know what I would’ve done without them.  Yes, we went back to the pool again and today we were joined by our great friends Madison and Josh (and their parents too of course).  The kids always have fun playing together, and today Trey and Jesse played extra well together.  Maybe they know Mama is getting frazzled:-)
