Gone Fishin’

After the extreme busy-ness of the last couple of months it was wonderful to finally have a weekend with no obligations!  I got in some much needed rest and girl time with a good friend, while my boys hit the coast to go fishing!

We talk to the boys a lot about boat safety and being careful when in the boat…you know always wear your life jacket, don’t stand close to the sides, no running, etc.  Yesterday, Trey informed Phil that it was okay if he and Uncle Brandon fell over the side of the boat into the ocean.  Why would it be okay?  Not for the reasons you may think.  No, it’s not because they are grown-ups and can swim, but  because they have already been married and had kids.  I guess their usefulness has been used up!  Sometimes you just don’t wanna know what these little minds are thinking!

Despite a slow start, the boys wound up catching a good mess of fish and as always, had a grand time with their Daddy and Uncle Brandon!  Maybe we won’t throw them overboard just yet, they still have some usefulness left:-)

High Praise Indeed!

Trey has mostly been a good eater. Of course he's gone through phases where nothing was to his liking, but most of the time he eats. He has his prickly points like not eating any food that has touched another food. And if we are using some of the kids character plates he HAS to have the spoon/fork that matches the plate. He's also just getting out of a phase where he wouldn't use the same spoon/fork for different foods...one spoon/fork per food was the rule! He generally likes my cooking, and of course it brings me enjoyment when I see him truly enjoying a meal that I have slaved over:) Lately he has come up with a new compliment for me whenever he has truly enjoyed a dish. It's a really wonderful compliment and makes me smile whenever he says it. Are you ready for it???

Trey tells me that I cooked this recipe (that's what he calls all my dishes) so good that I should go cook at the Huddle House!

Age is just a number, right?

Apparently, according to Trey, I am 200 years old. No wonder I feel so old! He made this declaration during supper tonight. And Phil. Well, since he's a year older than me (Trey knows that much:) he's 201 years old.

Treyism for Friday, August 29th

On the way home from school, Trey pipes up and says,

"I can't believe that I'm already in the numbered grades, Mama, can you?"

No. I. Can. Not.
