March Snapshot, Part 2

While it is true that church, 4H, Scouts, and all the boys various lessons keep us hopping throughout the month, our most special moments are those spent with family.  We are thankful that March was sprinkled with some very special family moments.

On Sunday, March 9th, we had our second annual Tyre Cousins Reunion.  The kids had a blast swimming, catching fish, playing with worms, and paddling boating!

Of course our favorite March family day is March 12th, the day our Lord blessed this earth with our wonderful Daddy!  Treats from the Blueberry Barn, dinner at Olive Garden, and yummy ice cream cake were the order of the day as we celebrated Daddy's 39th birthday!

On March 14th the Lord blessed our family again with the birth our newest little "cousin", Lucy! 

Our family keeps growing and on March 15th we were honored to welcome one more new member as my little cousin Miranda married her high school sweetheart.

Aunt Dot and Aunt Esther visited for the wedding too!

Spring time around here always means early mornings and late nights of fishing!  On March 20th, a late afternoon trip to the pond after soccer practice resulted in these two monsters.  Jesse is smiling so big because he caught the biggest one!  Jesse also told me that I better not "waste his fish by making catfish stew".  According to him, any fish that isn't fried is wasted...in other words don't go baking my fish or putting it in any stew.  (Side note:  Mommy also caught a keeper fish on this trip!)

Friday, March 21, we celebrated our Philip again with swimming, fried fish, fried shrimp, and ice cream cake at Grandma & Da's!

On March 28th, my boys finally got the boat in the ocean for the first time in a long time, and although reports had been that the fish weren't biting, they proved everyone wrong!  Their biggest haul of the day was this huge sheephead and it took all three of my boys to get it in.  Jesse was super proud and again told me not to waste his fish by baking it.

I love spring time, when the weather starts getting warmer and the days start getting longer, and we get to spend so much time with family!

Today is Philip’s Birthday! 

 

We celebrated with fish, shrimp, and ice cream cake on Friday night and the kids really got into singing Happy Birthday to the birthday boy!  On Sunday, we celebrated with Oreo cheesecake from the Cheesecake Factory.  So far, it’s been a wonderful birthday!

Happy Birthday to my best friend!  May the coming year be the best one yet!

Happy Birthday Daddy!

Today was hubby's ?? birthday! He kicked the day off by taking our little stinker fishing. This was Jesse's third fishing trip with Daddy. Jesse's first fishing trip was when he was about 8 months or so??? Mommy wanted to go along with Daddy and Trey and try to capture them on film catching a shark. I did. Jesse, however, was not a happy camper during this boat ride. And when we got back to land...Mommy fell out of the boat, flat on her back on the asphalt. Luckily Daddy was holding Jesse at the time. Mommy has NOT been fishing since. Jesse's second adventure in fishing was about a year ago. Daddy took both boys to Banks lake...the one with all the alligators. He assured me that it was too cold for the alligators to be moving. I was very unsure about Jesse making the trip. But...I was taking online classes to renew my teaching certificate and I needed everyone out of the house, sooooo I gave in. And...Jesse fell out of the boat and into the water. Although I have been assured that this was a very brief dip into the water, Jesse has shown ABSOLUTELY NO interest in going fishing again. Until this past weekend when Daddy and Trey were going. So Daddy promised that he would take Jesse today. And...Jesse loved it. They fished on the bank. They fished out of the boat. Jesse paddled the water with his hand. Jesse paddled with a paddle. AND...Jesse caught both of the keeper fish!Once we got home from picking Trey up at school it was time to make Daddy's birthday pie. Daddy is diabetic and it's a lot easier to whip up a low sugar chocolate pie than cake and as long as the boys get to have a hand in making it (and eating it) they don't care what we make so we made a chocolate cream pie and it was YUMMY!
