Jesse's 3rd Birthday: The Party

Today my baby boy, Jesse DuRant, turned 3!!! I can not believe how big he is getting. He is so full of life, and laughter, and mischief. I can not imagine our little family without him. Since his birthday is so close to Easter (he was actually born on Good Friday!) we celebrated his birthday a little early this year. On April 4, we were joined by family and friends at the Fun Place to celebrate both Jesse's and his big cousin Jake's birthdays! That means arcade games, putt putt, and this time we even got to ride the go carts!

Lost...

When: March 27, 2009

Scene: Grandma Gwen and Da's house in Scuffletown. Kids are in the front eating fried chicken and watching t.v. The women are in the back talking and eating. The men have not arrived yet. Just a normal Friday night.

Then...the kids start hollering...like I said just a normal Friday night.

Finally the women realize that they are hollering that Trey has lost a tooth...his FIRST tooth! Trey is beyond excited. We didn't even realize he had a loose tooth but suddenly one is gone and one is very loose. By the end of the night...Trey is missing TWO teeth.

Ending: Trey put TWO teeth under his pillow for the tooth fairy and the next morning has $3.00 under his pillow and lots of fairy dust all over the room.

Now of course losing teeth is a BIG deal to a child, and losing your first tooth is a REALLY BIG deal. But for this Mama, it spelled R-E-L-E-I-F. I was seriously getting worried about whether or not he had any adult teeth in that mouth of his. I mean he's 7, and all his friends have lost teeth, and as his mouth has grown he's become quite gapped toothed. I was thinking about calling the dentist...yes, I was that worried. But thankfully, all that's behind me now and I can now feel sad that another first is behind us. sniff, sniff....

Where's the eggs???

This week Trey is on spring break~and we are having a great time just staying home! Last week Trey (along with the rest of his school) took the BIG test that they have to take every year. So even though it was two weeks early, Trey's class took a little field trip on Friday, March 27, 2009 to a local church for an Easter Party! They hunted eggs, played games, ate hot dogs, and had a blast!

On your mark, get set, go...Counting eggs and making sure that they ALL contain candy!

Trey's class. Can you tell that even though I had told Trey NOT to eat any candy until after lunch that he just couldn't wait and kept "sneaking" it.Believe it or not this was the highlight for most of the kids. Many had never seen one before and they rode around, and around, and around.

A Tale of Two Camp Outs

For a while now, Trey has been asking to go camping. So while in Macon for my girls' day, armed with a gift card that we'd had for over a year, I went to Bass Pro and bought a humongous tent. Now, I don't do camping...ever! But I figured if my three boys were going to be camping on regular basis they would need lots of room. When I got home with the tent, Trey absolutely, positively could not wait until the next weekend to set up the tent and camp. Now it was late, way past dark, and way past the boys bedtime. But...they were so excited that while they were playing in the tub we set up the humongous tent in the living room. And...it filled the WHOLE room. We even had to move furniture. It went from the front edge of the couch all the way to the entertainment center. We could barely get to the door. But you know what, it was all worth it! The boys were SO EXCITED. They settled down in the tent and Jesse sang songs and Trey told a spooky story...because you know a camp out is just not complete without a spooky story!

Jesse and his Baby Jesus...we used this doll as our Baby Jesus in the Christmas play this year, and the name stuck!

The following Friday night, Phil took the boys down to the creek and they fished and camped. They were joined by their cousins, Lexie, Roman, and Bella, and had a grand time playing in the tent, roasting hot dogs and marshmallows, and fishing. I really wish that I had pictures to share of all the fun, but Hubby fell down on the job and only took three pictures when they first arrived. He claims that he was too busy setting up the tent, gathering firewood, building the fire, roasting hot dogs and marshmallows, and everything else to take pictures. Likely story, don't ya think? Maybe Mama should do camping, at least a little bit, so she can get her pictures.

Anyway, it looks to be a beautiful spot and you can see the boys were having a blast!

Surprisingly, Jesse did very well. He even fell asleep in the tent. But, he was very excited to be potty training and in his sleep he had an accident. He woke up and could not be consoled. He was so upset that he had messed up his pull up. So at 12:45am he came home...well, he came to sleep with me at my Mama's. Because after our break-in the previous Monday there was no way I was staying home alone! After that all the cousins went home to warm beds. But Trey would not be swayed...he was camping out. So. He and Phil slept in the truck. It was kinda cold.

Almost Wordless Wednesday

On this very rainy and dreary day I am wondering if the sun will ever peek out again, and dreaming of our Disney Cruise which is still months and months away. But two years ago today we boarded the Disney Wonder and set sail on our first Disney Cruise. Here's to the memories...

We headed down two days early and visited the Kennedy Space Center...
