Tales from the Woods...

Wow, am I way behind on the blog!!! We have had an extremely busy summer, with very few down days. I am enjoying it more than any summer in recent history! Why you ask??? Well, for one thing it's my last summer before I go back to work. That's right, in case you missed it in the last post, I will be teaching 4th grade starting August 3rd. So....I've got to make the most of this precious time with my boys. Also, Jesse is finally big enough for us to go places and have fun without having to chase him quite so much. We've done quite a lot and I have at least TEN posts to catch up on. And while I have been very diligent about posting all our summer fun pictures on facebook, *some* have hinted very strongly that they miss the blog posts. So here we go...

We (or at least Phil, Trey, and Jesse) kicked off summer vacation with a camp out the Friday after Trey got out of school (May 22-23, 2009). Trey asked for a camp out for his end of school celebration and Daddy was very good at providing. The boys got new sleeping bags that they couldn't wait to try out, although I must admit I was VERY disappointed in Wally World's selection. And while I posted in my last camping post that Daddy fell down on the job with the picture taking, I am most happy to report that he did much better this time.

Campers include: Daddy, Trey, Jesse, Uncle Brandon, and LexieBrotherly love, ain't it sweet???Once again, Jesse did not last the whole camp out. He came home around 11:30...but just because he wasn't camping in the woods didn't mean that he wasn't determined to sleep in his new sleeping bag. So we spread it out on the floor at the foot of my bed and he slept the whole night!Fishing the next morning. Trey informed his Daddy that "he had planned this camp out after all, and his plan said that they stayed in the woods until 3:30". A very patient, and sleep deprived Daddy.

Once again a good time was had by all. But they went camping in the same place as last time and Trey has *decided* that it's a nice place to camp and all but he wants to camp at "different backgrounds". Hmmmm...well just have to see.

Another year bites the dust...

Lots and lots of pictures to share with you today! We had a very busy end to the school year. I can not believe that my Trey will be in the 2nd grade next year! He is doing so well, and we are so proud of him!!!

The Friday night before school got out, we attended Cora Jane's kindergarten graduation. The kids put on a little show they called "Conversations on the Ark". Cora Jane was a lamb, and wore my costume that my aunt made me when I was a little girl. She is quite the performer and did an excellent job, as did all the kids!

The following Wednesday, Trey's class celebrated the end of school with a "Fun Day". The kids had a blast, and even flew a kite or two!

The following day was the last day of school. We attended Honor's Day. Trey received the Principal's Award for having a 97 or above average all year, an award for having all A's all year, the Bible Award, the Super Reader Award, and the Most Inquiring Award! We got Trey's final report card last week, and he actually had a 99 year average in math and phonics. We also got his Stanford 9 test (the REALLY BIG test) results back and out of 358 questions he only missed 12! Plus, he scored on an 8th grade level in math! We are so proud of him and how hard he has worked this year!!!

And...if you haven't already heard, I got a job teaching 4th grade next year at Trey's school!!! This is an answer to many, many prayers and we are all VERY EXCITED!!!

DIVISION CHAMPS!!!

Trey's baseball team, the Florida Marlins, finished the season with a 9-2-1 record to become the 7 & 8 year old Division Champs!!! We are so proud of Trey and the entire team!!!

The first jerseys that the team received had the sponsor name misspelled on the back. So we had to send them back. Then we spent several weeks as the mismatched misfits:-)
We were all so very happy when our new jerseys finally came in!!!Jesse hanging out in the dugout! He can't wait until he's old enough to play!
