Two Plus Two: Why Do I Feel Outnumbered?
This Mama doesn’t handle her boys growing up very well at all. So today has been very emotional for me for today my baby is a whole handful! He has turned five and now says that he is a big boy. I just don’t think I can handle having two big boys. Where have my babies gone?

We have found our spot for watching soccer games! It is over close to the building, close to the concession stand, and away from most of the cars. And. There is a dirt pile!!! Jesse was in heaven during Trey’s game digging in the dirt…he made a volcano, a mouse trap, and two sand angels—one while lying on his back and the other one while lying on his front!!! He was covered in wet, sticky sand, but he was well entertained:-)
The night before Jesse’s trike-a-thon at school we had a fish fry at Papa and Ah-ee’s. Jesse was just too adorable walking around with his envelope asking every single person to donate. Couples didn’t count…he wanted a donation from each person:-) He wouldn’t even let Daddy off with a “wait till we get home”. Once he had collected from everyone, he decided to practice his bicycle riding skills. Hinson thought that it looked like lots of fun so he joined in too!
I thought that they were too cute …Jesse pushing Hinson slowly and Hinson’s feet pushing just as fast as he could.
But Jesse had other ideas of what he wanted to do and soon left Hinson to his own foot power…which didn’t bother Hinson in the least!
He was sooooo adorable pushing that trike all by himself! But it makes Aunt Christy sooooo sad that he’s growing up sooooo fast!
Our preschool held their annual trike-a-thon for St. Jude’s on Friday, March 18th. Once again Jesse was super excited to take his bicycle to school!
The students had a goal to raise more money this year than they did last year and they did! The preschool students raised $1,430 for St. Jude’s!!!

Once again, our honor society kids came over to help out. We are very thankful to have such great role models for our little ones!
Both my boys and both my nieces are playing, as well as many of our friends so it was wonderful to spend this morning catching up with everybody during the games.
We are looking forward to a great first soccer season!
If we only stop and look we can find joy in our every day lives…

Last month Trey had another book report due. This time the book had to be a biography and the project that went with the report was to come to school dressed as your person. All the third graders were excited about this assignment and went all out with their costumes. Trey, along with several of his classmates, chose Daniel Boone for his report.
Several months ago I came across this recipe for snow pops. This was my second time in a matter of weeks of hearing about snow pops and my mouth was watering. Then, one of my fourth grader’s mom made some for our class Christmas party and I knew I had to try it out. So, one Saturday early in January I was feeling industrious and I decided to try them out. I followed the online recipe exactly! I even made the homemade cream cheese icing!!! The only exceptions I did make to the recipe is that I didn’t put the snowballs on sticks and I used the candy melts found in the wedding section at WalMart instead of the chocolate that she uses. Needless to say, they were a BIG hit with my family. My hubby suggested that I make them again except he wanted me to make them with brownies instead of cake mix. So a couple weeks later I made them again, this time for the February birthday celebration at church. Then I made them again for both mine and Trey’s class Valentine’s. They turned out so cute! I must warn you that they are extremely rich…but oh so good!!!
Brownie Bites
Bake brownies (the really fudgey kind), following the directions on the box.
Once brownies are baked and cooled, crumble them into little bits and pieces.
Make a batch of cream cheese frosting.
Combine:
8 oz. package cream cheese, softened
6 T. butter, softened
1 t. vanilla
1T. cream (or milk)
3 cups powdered sugar
I added the cream cheese frosting, a big spoonful at the time, to the brownie crumbles (until all the brownies were moistened with the frosting and was moldable like dough), combining well.
I formed the brownie mixture into balls, put them on a plate and refrigerated them.
While they were chilling, I melted 2 bags of white chocolate candy melts on medium power in the microwave. I have found that the candy melts in the wedding section at WalMart work best for me. I cannot seem to use almond bark or any of the other meltable white chocolate found in the baking section of the grocery stores. I scorch it every time. I am a solid fan of candy melts! If you wish you could use food coloring and make your snow balls fun colors. I didn’t. I have however, used the milk chocolate candy melts. They were yummy too!
Dip the brownie balls into the chocolate completely coating them. Place on wax paper to dry.
Put sprinkles all over the snow balls quickly before the candy started to harden.

After the extreme busy-ness of the last couple of months it was wonderful to finally have a weekend with no obligations! I got in some much needed rest and girl time with a good friend, while my boys hit the coast to go fishing!
We talk to the boys a lot about boat safety and being careful when in the boat…you know always wear your life jacket, don’t stand close to the sides, no running, etc. Yesterday, Trey informed Phil that it was okay if he and Uncle Brandon fell over the side of the boat into the ocean. Why would it be okay? Not for the reasons you may think. No, it’s not because they are grown-ups and can swim, but because they have already been married and had kids. I guess their usefulness has been used up! Sometimes you just don’t wanna know what these little minds are thinking!
Despite a slow start, the boys wound up catching a good mess of fish and as always, had a grand time with their Daddy and Uncle Brandon! Maybe we won’t throw them overboard just yet, they still have some usefulness left:-)
Trey’s class is studying animals in science so last Thursday his teacher arranged for a special visitor to come to the class. A man came from the Department of Natural Resources and talked to the students about all kinds of animals that are hunted and trapped for their hides in Georgia. He had hides from all kinds of creatures found here but the highlight of his visit was the real live baby alligator!
The students were also fascinated by the real live rattlesnake!
Remember way back here where I began telling you about our Christmas Day afternoon at Papa & Ah-ee’s and concluded with “to be continued…” indicating that I would be coming back and sharing the rest of our Christmas Day with you? Yeah, that was almost a month ago. And. I had every intention of sharing the conclusion of our Christmas with you in a timely manner. What got in the way then? Well…that would be life! Our life has been extremely busy! We’ve done quite a bit of this over the last two months…
One of our local churches kicked off a new Upwards program right after Christmas and we were thrilled! So every Saturday for the past two months have found us at the gym watching basketball games!
We also had a Saturday filled with this…
Our church hosted a flag football tournament to raise money for missions and I must say it was one of the best days I can remember in a long time! I haven’t laughed so hard in forever;-)
We’ve also had birthdays…lots and lots of birthdays have been celebrated!
So as you can see, we’ve been extremely busy with life…playing sports, spending time with family and friends, field trips, p.j. day for Jesse, biography dress up day for Trey, Favorite Team Sunday, Friend Sunday, Valentine’s, our annual school auction…but most importantly making cherished memories with our boys!
And while I hope to be back soon to share all the nitty-gritty details of our January and February as well the tons and tons of photos I’ve taken (did I mention that I got a new camera?!?!), I can’t make any promises. Cause while our last basketball game is this Saturday, soccer is right around the corner…along with family dinners, choir competition, play dates, school activities, more birthdays, more field trips…and the list goes on and on! So for now, I leave you with…to be continued…

I can’t help but wonder…
where has the time gone?!?!
For it is passing by at an amazingly fast speed…
and I am going to miss this when it’s gone!
