Beach Vacation Day 3, Part 2: Back to the Pool

After visiting the lighthouse it was time to return to Neptune Park Pool. Yes, it is our favorite place! Today Aunt Janie, Cora Jane, Vera Kate, and Whit came to play in the water with us. We enjoyed lots of fun in the sun and were all sad to see the day come to an end.

Beach Vacation Day 3: Lighthouse

This year the boys decided that they wanted to visit the lighthouse.  I warned them that it would mean climbing ALOT of stairs but they would not be deterred.  So this morning we climbed to the top of the St. Simons Lighthouse.  The climb was not too bad, Trey counted 132 steps.  And once we made it to the top.  The view was simply amazing!  Trey’s biggest discovery…what the light bulb looks like.  He talked about that all afternoon.

Beach Vacation Day 2: Neptune Park Pool

We spent today at the Neptune Park Pool!  It is a favorite of ours, and the boys have been looking forward to visiting it all summer!  In fact, last night as Jesse was playing on the whales, he had a meltdown because he wanted to go to the pool so bad.  My boys definitely prefer the pool to the beach just like me!  Actually, I think their preference for the pool comes from their vast fishing experience.  Their favorite activity to do with their Daddy is fish and usually when they go fishing they fish the intercoastal waterways of St. Simon’s.  They’ve caught so many sharks (4 fairly big ones just this past Saturday), not to mention eels, sting rays, etc, that they are a little wary of what they are swimming with in the ocean.  So today was a pool day.  And, as always, we had so much fun!

Beach Vacation Day 1

We are on vacation this week!  Yay!!!  We’ve been looking forward to it all summer and it is a much needed break!  After this we are on the fast track to the first day of school.  But we won’t think about that this week, this week we are on island time!  I won’t use the terms rest or relaxation this week since my boys don’t know the meaning of those words but just to get away from everything is wonderful!  And I can’t wait to spend this time making memories with my boys!!!

I am sooooooo far behind on my blogging that I thought I would try blogging our vacation as it happens.  We’ll see how it goes.  And I promise that I will catch you up on the rest of our summer at some point too.

So here goes Day 1.  Daddy was able to join us for today so we squeezed a lot in.  ZuZu’s.  Neptune Park.  And.  The Beach.  Busy day.  And.  So much fun!

Pool Side

So how did we spend the very first day of our summer vacation??? Swimming, of course! School let out before lunch on Thursday and I worked until late trying to wrap everything up in my classroom so that I could play on Friday!!! I did have to go in for a couple of hours, but by lunch time we were at Grandma and Da's enjoying the pool with Aunt Janie, Cora Jane, Vera Kate, Whit, and our good friends the McClintocks! What a wonderful way to kick off summer! And this, this is how we've spent most of the summer---pool side!

Jesse DuRant chose this day to swim without his swimmies! Oh. My. Goodness! How he stressed me out! I could barely carry on a conversation for jumping up every time he got off the steps! He's come a long way this summer and is now swimming like a fish!

Nothing like a little pool side baseball! The kids, both big and little, had so much fun!

We've only got a few weeks of summer left and we plan to enjoy every minute of it! I pray that each of you is also having an awesome summer!

How have we spent this summer???

WET!!!

Whether it's been swimming with family and friends, playing at the beach, splashing in the creeks at Vogel State Park, or running through sprinklers at Aunt Dot's one thing my boys have enjoyed this summer is the water!!! We've had a very busy summer that started as soon as school got out and since we've been away from the house so much, I've really been slacking on blogging. I hope to catch you up on all our summer fun soon, and you can be sure that it will include lots and lots of swimming in, splashing in, and playing in water photos!
